As a cradle of art and culture, Mallorca is full of hidden treasures that tell us about its history. It also offers a landscape richness that awakens the emotions of those who visit the island. Far from the most touristic spots, we discover secret places in Mallorca that captivate our senses. At Hammam we open the doors to the lesser‑known charms of the island.

Banyalbufar: hidden gem between sea and mountain

On the slopes of the Serra de Tramuntana we find the beautiful village of Banyalbufar, at whose feet the Mediterranean opens.

Its impressive natural setting and its charming historic centre make this small locality one of the most impressive secret places in Mallorca. A visit to this village lets you discover a spectacular waterfall and unrivalled sea views, as well as its characteristic vineyards, which hold the origin of the malvasía grape cultivation.

It is located just 28 kilometres from Palma — although to reach it you need to make a 45 minute car ride — and has Arabic origins. Its defensive towers and irrigation systems by aqueducts, terraces, cisterns and canals transport you several centuries back in time. But it is also interesting to explore its artisan wineries or go hiking in a unique natural environment. Not to mention how pleasurable it is to lose yourself in its small cove, a gem protected by the stone walls of the mountain.

The unchanged charm of Sóller

If we speak of secret places in Mallorca with charm, few match in beauty the village of Sóller. And this is due in part to oranges!

The cultivation of citrus allowed locals to make a fortune in France in the 19th century through the export of these products. Back on the island, they invested in the construction of modernist buildings that still survive today. A stroll through its narrow streets allows you to discover those palaces of French influence, but also lovely private gardens.

Sóller, with its characteristic medieval air, lies in the middle of an orange‑valley known as the ‘golden valley’. This name is of Arabic origin: Sóller comes from ‘suliar’, which means ‘golden bowl’, and is no more than a way to describe that orange valley surrounding the village.

Discovering the virgin beaches and escars of Betlem

One of those secret places of Mallorca that few know is Betlem, a tranquil and picturesque village located in the Bay of Alcúdia. Let yourself be seduced by its narrow streets and old houses or by its marina, but above all, discover its beaches with crystal‑clear and calm waters.

The village borders a protected natural area, so you can imagine the natural beauty that surrounds it. This allows you to enjoy activities such as hiking but also to explore its vineyard landscape and its little winery.

Its coves are a paradise away from the noise and tourist overcrowding, so you can make the most of the visit to relax, breathe clean air and dedicate time to disconnect.

Another of the curious features of this place are the ancient escars of Betlem (boat ramps). Four of them remain today although fishermen no longer use them. Simply put, they have become part of the landscape of this village, as they are protected as heritage.

The unforgettable coves of Migjorn: a Mediterranean dream

To complete our journey through the most impressive secret places of Mallorca, we make a final stop in the wonderful region of Migjorn (or Mitjorn).

It lies in the southern zone of the island and hosts some of the best Mallorcan coves. Cala Marçal, Cala Barca Trencada, Cala Mondragó, Cala Llombards or Cala en Tugores are just some examples of the fabulous natural landscape that can be found in this region.

This coastline is strewn with crystal‑clear water coves surrounded by pine forests, idyllic spaces to forget the daily routine and enjoy wild nature in all its splendour.

A swim in these waters is one of the most pleasurable experiences Mallorca offers us and you can also take advantage to discover its surprising surroundings, with places as attractive as the Es Pontás viewpoint, the medieval castle of Santueri or the Ses Salines Lighthouse.

Enjoying the climate of the Migjorn area is another reason why this is one of the most magical secret places of Mallorca. All this, in the heart of the Mediterranean!
